Dear __________________,

It has come to my attention that yet another talented student, Camilia Hornung from Florida State University, is facing deportation to a foreign country. This is a sad and misguided use of our resources and I must implore you to take whatever steps necessary to stay this deportation till Congress can take up the DREAM Act again.

Camila Hornung is a perfect example of the type of people we need in this country. She is an exemplary student, and a great person. If deported, she would be sent to a country she hasn’t seen in 14 years. We have invested in her K-12 education and to deport her now would be a loss of our investment and 'cruel and unfair punishment.' Camilia has not committed any crime for which she should be punished--deporting her goes against the basic principle of our legal justice system that "legal burden should bear some relationship to individual responsibility or wrongdoing" (U.S. Supreme Court in Plyler v. Doe).

This is also the reason why it is extremely important to pass the DREAM Act as soon as possible. Passing the DREAM Act would help prevent more bright students, such as Camila and Arthur, from being thrown out of a country they call their own.

Your timely intervention is both appropriate and critical. I implore you to encourage and/or introduce a Private Bill this week so that we can keep an intellectually gifted young in our state. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

____________

We need as many people as we can to do this so it has a bigger impact. It’s only going to take a few minutes of your time and it’s the least we can do to help Camila.
